Emancipet is a non-profit low-cost veterinary clinic organization founded in 1999, with its Houston Wayside Drive clinic opening in 2015. Located at 910 South Wayside Dr #100 in the Lawndale/Wayside neighborhood, this clinic provides affordable, high-quality preventive and surgical pet care to underserved communities. Since its founding, Emancipet has spayed or neutered more than 275,000 dogs and cats and in 2016 alone cared for more than 100,000 pets. Emancipet is a Charity Navigator 4-star rated nonprofit and holds Candid Platinum Transparency status. The Wayside clinic is not a full-service veterinary clinic and does not treat sick or injured pets. Services offered include: low-cost spay and neuter surgery (Dogs: $125, Cats: $89 — by appointment), Healthy Pet Services (walk-ins welcome, $20 office visit fee), vaccinations (Rabies, DAP, Bordetella, Leptospirosis, FeLV, FVRCP — $17 each), heartworm testing ($20), heartworm treatment (starting at $225), microchipping ($20), FeLV/FIV testing ($20), flea/tick/heartworm prevention ($7–$22/month), toenail trim ($10), anal gland expression ($10), ear & skin medications, dewormers, ID tags ($5), and urgent care for pyometra/dystocia surgeries ($150 — call first). Walk-ins are welcome during clinic hours; Saturdays are walk-in only. The Wayside clinic team includes: Janelle John (Branch Manager), Giulianna, Antonia, Angus, and Alexia (Veterinary Technicians). Emancipet also operates clinics in Northwest Freeway and Monroe Plaza (Houston), multiple Austin locations, Killeen TX, and Philadelphia PA. Online booking available. Pharmacy refills available for 12+ month clients. Spanish language support available.
