Broadest-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotic that binds PBPs 2 and 3, inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Stable against virtually all beta-lactamases including ESBLs and AmpC. Active against Pseudomonas (unlike ertapenem), most Enterobacteriaceae, and anaerobes.
