The clinic was founded in 2015 by Dr. Melinda Martinez, DVM. Dr. Martinez previously operated a small house call practice and relief veterinary service beginning in 2003 before opening Holy Family Pet Care. She is a native El Pasoan who graduated from Austin High School, earned a BS in Microbiology from UTEP, and received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 1996. Services include: annual wellness exams with individualized vaccination schedules, heartworm testing and monthly preventive medication, geriatric and hospice care (semi-annual exams for senior pets, nutrition, pain management), dental care (exams, cleanings, extractions, pain management), dermatology (allergies, external parasites, skin infections), internal medicine and diagnostics (physical exams, comprehensive blood panels, X-rays, specialist referrals), veterinary surgery (spay/neuter, laceration repairs, growth/tumor removals, foreign body removals; each surgical patient receives IV fluids and continuous monitoring of heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and temperature), and microchipping. The clinic also offers a strong focus on puppy and kitten behavioral guidance to prevent pet relinquishment. Observes Catholic/Christian holy days — closes for Holy Week, Easter, Memorial Day, and similar holidays.
