Scottish Vet Referrals is a privately owned, multidisciplinary veterinary referral centre based on the Inverness Campus, and the only independent multidisciplinary referral practice in the north of Scotland. Founded by veterinary ophthalmologists Kirsten MacLeod and Tony Wall, the practice began as an ambulatory ophthalmic service before opening its own dedicated, custom-designed facility on the Campus in February 2017. Starting with a team of just three, it has grown to around 20 highly skilled staff, including consultants such as Director Dr Kirsten MacLeod BVMS PgC(SAO) MRCVS in ophthalmology and Dr Roberto Bergamaschi MSc CertAVP(GSAS) PGCertVPS MRCVS in small animal surgery and neurology. Services span ophthalmology, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and oncology, cardiorespiratory medicine, dermatology, and on-site CT scanning — the first permanent CT scanner of its kind in the Highlands — as well as BVA/Kennel Club eye testing. The practice treats a wide range of species by referral, including cats, dogs, equines, exotics, birds, and farm animals, and clients consistently praise the team's professionalism, empathy, and clear communication, particularly regarding complex eye conditions.
