The hospital was founded in December 1978 by Dr. Gary Oehmke, DVM, and was named as a tribute to the original name of Derby, Kansas — El Paso. The current state-of-the-art facility opened in May 2018 and offers a 'fear-free' environment. EPAH also operates Paws & Play boarding facilities on-site.
